Introducing Elizabeth

She was born on Wednesday, November 6th, at 5pm exactly. She was 7 pounds, 3 ounces (3.25 kg) and 19.5 inches (50 cm) at birth. We were very happy to finally see her and have her in our family. In the four days since, we've learned to love her even more, and to realize that it is a lot of work. We're doing well. She sleeps well between feedings, so we do get some sleep at night. We look forward to the time when she does more than just sleep and eat, but it is a great start. We have our concerns and doubts that I think are common to most first-time parents, but wouldn't change it for anything. Everyone keeps asking for more pictures, so here you go.

Not only do we have a new baby, we also moved into the house.  I could make arguments that both got done at the same time since Kristina and Lizzy came home from the hospital to the new house.  But since the house isn't finished yet, it's a pretty weak argument.  In any case, Lizzy seems to like it here.  At least in our bed anyway.

Almost there

Yesterday, I finished the electrical work on our house.  We also had neighbors and friends come help us move our stuff up from the basement.  We've not moved in yet, but we are super close.

Pictures of a Busy Time

The tricky part is, when you have the most to write about, you have the least free time to write it.  Here are some pictures from the past month and a half.  The house is nearing completion.  Kristina and our baby are doing well.  I'm still hopeful that those two items will finish in that order.

Vacationing

We are so grateful for Bud's and Leslie's help on the house. It would have taken Aaron forever to install the electrics all by himself, with all the questions and mistakes that accompany such a job. Thanks to them, it took less than two weeks, and then Aaron was free to accompany my mom and me on trips.
I wanted my mom to thoroughly enjoy herself during her first time in the United States. Here's where we've been:


Yellowstone National Park

Aaron made good friends with a dragon fly... The little guy landed on him and wouldn't leave for the longest time.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

I noticed that Jackson is very posh. It's the Aspen of the Tetons. We mostly enjoyed the art galleries and the little park in the middle of Town Square. We kept it to just a one day visit, because hotel rooms were extraordinarily expensive, and I didn't feel up to camping in a tent. ;)

Salt Lake City

 Through it all, I've had some small health problems, not a big problem in themselves, but every time something got better, something else went wrong - like me getting a kink in my back from bending to pick up a piece of clothing from the floor. My lower back became very painful and stiff, and I walked around like an old lady. It's getting better, though, thank God.
Otherwise, I just love being pregnant and feeling our baby doing workouts. ;) Only 11 and 1/2 weeks to go... We have a crib, which we bought from friends, and a bassinet, which my mom gave us. We feel very blessed in every regard.
 

Wasserfälle

Wir sind glücklich, dass Mutti bei uns ist. Da Aaron und sein Vater noch an der Elektrik des Hauses arbeiten mussten, haben Mutti, Aarons Mutti und ich ein paar kleine Ausflüge gemacht. Hier sind wir bei den Mesa Falls gar nicht weit von Rexburg.

Bei den St. Anthony Sanddünen waren wir auch, das heißt, wir waren in der Nähe, da wir den Weg direkt zu ihnen nicht finden konnten. ;)

Außerdem waren wir noch in Idaho Falls am Grünen Gürtel und in Rexburg.

Währenddessen hat Aaron hart gearbeitet...

Zum Glück ist er niemals vom Dach gefallen!

Jetzt mal ich

Jetzt schreibe ich mal wieder was. :) Auf diesem Bild seht ihr unseren Fortschritt zwei-in-eins, das Baby und das Haus. Auf allgemeinen Wunsch habe ich mein Shirt mal angelegt, damit man den Bauch besser sehen kann... ;) Alle meine Schwangerenkleidung kaufe ich gebraucht und bin ganz glücklich damit. Ich versuche auch gar nicht, weite Kleidung zu finden, aber irgendwie ist alles doch sehr leger. Ich will den Bauch gar nicht verstecken; es passiert von selbst. ;)
Die Bauleute waren gestern noch fleißig und haben das ganze Dach gedeckt. Es sieht gut aus, und es tut meinem Herzen gut, das Haus mit Dach zu sehen, weil es ein deutliches Zeichen ist, dass unser Haus doch noch zusammenkommt. Die Hoffnung ist, dass wir Ende September einziehen können, aber ich glaube nicht so recht daran. Es ist aber okay; ich bin deswegen nicht verzweifelt oder so. Es wäre einfach schön und praktisch gewesen...

Ich fühle mich sehr gesund, nur manchmal etwas erschöpft. Das Ende meines Frühlingssemesters schlaucht mich, aber in anderthalb Wochen habe ich es geschafft! Ich freue mich schon auf ein bisschen Freizeit und Urlaub und die Besuche von Mutti und Aarons Eltern. 

Achtung, dieses Haus hier ist NICHT unseres. ;) Am Freitag fuhren Aaron und ich durch die Nachbarschaft, um Inspiration für die Außengestaltung unseres Hauses zu bekommen, und diese Ziegelsteinfarben haben es mir angetan. Das werden wir so machen, und auch die Hausfarbe, aber mit Querstreifen statt vertikalen. Dazu eine dunkelrote Tür - voila! Jedenfalls fuhren wir rum und hielten manchmal an, um Fotos zu machen. Wir sahen bestimmt wie Detektive aus. Ein Auto hält an, Scheibe runter, jemand macht Fotos vom Haus, Scheibe wieder hoch, Auto fährt weiter. ;)
